Privacy Policy
Pourwise is an iOS app that turns a photo of a coffee bag into a pour-over recipe for your xBloom machine. This page explains what the app collects, where it goes, and how to remove it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.
What we collect
- Your Apple sign-in. When you tap Continue with Apple, Apple gives us a stable user identifier and, if you allow it, your email address (or an Apple relay address if you choose Hide My Email). We use it to keep your free brews and subscription tied to you.
- Bag photos and the text you enter. The photo you scan and the bean details, brew choices, and past ratings you provide are sent to our server, which forwards them to OpenAI to read the label and design the recipe. We do not store the photo or the prompt on our server.
- Usage counters. How many free brews you have used, a per-day count of requests, and an identifier for each recipe attempt. These enforce the free allowance and protect the service from abuse.
- Subscription status. When you subscribe, the app sends Apple's signed proof of purchase to our server, which keeps the product, expiry date, and Apple's transaction identifier. We never see your payment details; Apple handles billing.
What stays on your device
- Your xBloom email and password are stored in the iOS Keychain and are sent only to xBloom's own servers when the app uploads a recipe to your xBloom account.
- Your recipes, ratings, and bean photos are stored on your phone. We do not sync them to our servers.
Who processes data for us
- Supabase hosts our sign-in, database, and server functions in Frankfurt, Germany (EU).
- OpenAI processes photos and prompts to produce bean profiles and recipes through its API. Under OpenAI's API terms this data is not used to train its models.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple and all subscription payments.
- xBloom receives the recipes you choose to send to your machine, under its own privacy policy.
We do not use advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings and tap Delete account. This removes your sign-in and your usage rows from our database. One thing remains: a one-way hash of your Apple identifier together with the number of free brews you had already used, so that deleting and re-creating an account cannot reset the free allowance. It cannot be turned back into your identity or email.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel it in your iPhone's Settings under your Apple Account, then Subscriptions.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing the address below. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.
Children
Pourwise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the effective date at the top will change and the app will point to the new version.
